Thanks so much for visiting my site!  I’m Nan Forler and I am a writer, a teacher, and a mother.  I am very excited about my new picture book, Bird Child.  This is the story of a small, bird-like girl, who stands up for a classmate who is being bullied and teaches her to fly. 

Though I have loved writing all my life, this is my first published picture book.  I especially like when my editor calls it my “debut” book.

I live in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, with my amazing husband, Kevin Coates, a teacher and musician, and my two awesome kids, Dillon and Maia.

We love doing things together that you probably love doing with your family: traveling, hanging out together at a cottage, seeing plays, listening to music, watching movies, and going on snow walks.

We especially love bookstores and libraries.  We can sit there for hours.  Our record is 4 hours and 20 minutes!  (We had to leave because we got hungry!)
