ABOUT

Nan believes strongly in the transformative power of a book in the hands of a child. It can be a springboard for their imagination, a mirror to how they feel, or a door to the feelings and experiences of others. A book can be an opening for possibility and hope.

Nan’s books have earned starred reviews and numerous awards, including the Nautilus Silver Medallion and the Lion and the Unicorn Award for Excellence in North American Poetry Honor Book.

With a wealth of experience in education and a passion for literacy, Nan is able to engage and connect with large groups of children in her presentations. She is an active supporter of programs that encourage equal opportunities for literacy, such as First Book Canada, ReadableFest and Storytime Trail for the One World Schoolhouse Foundation.

Nan lives in a house overflowing with music and books, with her musician husband, her two children, and a yorkie-poo named Alice.
